European competence frameworks are not static documents. AI, ecological transition and post-pandemic work transformation are reshaping the skills needed to participate in society and the economy.
On ExplorerHub we collect 17 frameworks developed by different institutions: the JRC, Cedefop, the Council of Europe, CEN, ENISA. The most interesting trend is their growing convergence.
DigComp 3.0, the latest version of the framework, fully integrates competences related to artificial intelligence, disinformation and interaction with algorithmic systems, with 523 concrete and measurable learning outcomes. AI Literacy (AILit) is emerging as a specific response, defining competences for understanding and critically evaluating AI systems. The change also requires critical thinking (LifeComp), ethical skills (EntreComp), and cybersecurity expertise (ECSF).
GreenComp draws on LifeComp. EntreComp bridges to GreenComp. DigCompEdu builds on DigComp. The EQF, managed by Cedefop, serves as the reference system connecting them all.
More AI updates across frameworks, new frameworks like RMComp and CompuThink, greater integration, and growing institutional adoption.
